Thanksgiving weekend in the valley

The holidays are fast approaching with Thanksgiving and the beginning of Hanukkah this Thursday.  The trees in the North Conway Village have all been covered with lights in anticipation of the North Conway Village Snowflake Festival on November 30th.  Go back  in time to an old fashioned Christmas with caroling, a tree lighting in Schouler Park.  The festivities also include great family fun such as face painting and card making.  While enjoying the festivities in Schouler Park, catch a ride on the Conway Scenic Railroad’s Santa’s Holiday Express.  Santa and his mischievous elves will be there sharing their hot chocolate and cookies with you.

Cranmore Mountain, Wildcat Mountain and Bretton Woods are all open for skiing.  A great way to work off that Thanksgiving dinner.  In addition to  alpine skiing in the Mount Washington Valley this weekend, check out the beautiful family friendly hikes in the valley.  Black Cap and Mt. Willard are always local favorites.  Ham Ice Arena is open in Conway for skating.  A great place to wipe the dust off your skates and practice before the ice freezes on the lakes and ponds.

Oh and we have yet to mention shopping.  Of course Black Friday shopping will be in full swing in the valley. Hit any store in North Conway Friday morning and you are sure to get a great deal.  But don’t forget about small business Saturday the next day.  Support local business owners and artisans.
